Melissa Johnston, RMTMelissa_Johnston

Melissa Johnston has been practicing massage therapy since 2003. She graduated from International Academy of Massage in 2003 with Honours then passed her board exams with the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario, (CMTO), and registered as a massage therapist in June, 2003.

Melissa also has graduated from the University of Ottawa with an Honours Bachelor Degree in Health Sciences. This degree helped her to pursue her interest and passion in the health sciences field. For the past 13 years, working as a Registered Massage Therapist, Melissa learned how to foster strong relationships while helping others as a health care practitioner. Over the years of working in this setting, she has learned and gained experience in problem solving in the health services field. This experience has also taught her how to stay professional with a high comfort level of working independently.

She has experience and enjoys giving her clients a relaxing massage with focus to specific areas that need more attention and more muscle manipulation. She has training in craniosacral therapy, reflexology and deep tissue massage. Some of her strengths in treating her clients is her caring and understanding nature towards her client’s specific needs. As a massage therapist, Melissa has learned that there are diverse reasons for what motivates people to bring balance and health into their daily lives. Sensitivity to this diversity is important when working with people to improve their own circumstances. Her approach has always been to remain calm and open when listening to clients’ needs, a characteristic that she feels makes her stand out as a health-care practitioner.

Melissa’s knowledge in the health care field has helped to carry her forward in her profession as a Registered Massage Therapist to continue to do her best. She thoroughly enjoys learning new treatments to advance her knowledge in massage therapy.

Melissa enjoys spending time outdoors, hiking, biking and cross-country skiing, and playing her violin.
